Road Shifters To mix and match Campagnolo indexed shifters, derailleurs and cassettes with Shimano indexed shifters, derailleurs and cassettes, see the ShiftMate. These days, most cyclists want their shift levers to be integrated with their brake levers. Some people like Shimano STI shifters, others prefer Campagnolo Ergo. While some people are happy with Campagnolo's linited selection of cassettes, others just won't be happy unless they can use Shimano cassettes. And many people mant the reduced dish that comes with using Shimano hubs rather than Campagnolo hubs. As noted abopve, the Shiftmate makes it easy to mix and match Campagnolo and Shimano drive train components. So if you want Ergo shifters and Shimano cassettes, you can finally use them together with perfect indexing. Ergo shifters are particularly helpfull on touring bikes using a handlebar bag. STI shifters have the shift cables exiting the levers right towards the handlebar bag, resulting in the cables binding against the side of the bag. By using Ergo shifters instead, you eliminate this problem.
