We sell Stronglight Impact cranks, (just the arms) as well as complete cranksets. The Impact Triple works with a JIS square taper bottom bracket. A 107mm axle gives a chainline of 45mm. We stock three different Stronglight bottom brackets to fit. Other brands will work of course, provided the axle length is correct and the tapers are JIS. The cranks are available in 165mm, 170mm, 172.5mm and 175mm. The bolt circles are 110mm for the outer and middle rings, and 74mm for the inner ring. You get the best pricing when you buy a complete crankset with one of three stock chainring sizes. Stock chainring sizes are 52-42-30, 48-38-24 or 48-36-24. Of course many other chainring options are available, but at a somewhat higher price.
Impact Tandem cranks are also available. The crank length is 170mm captain & stoker. We have two versions; all black with 52-42-30 chainrings, and all silver with 53-39-28 chainrings. All chainrings are 7075-T6 alloy for durability.
Crankset fans may notice a strong similarity in appearance to a certain Sugino crankset. And indeed the Impact is forged at the same foundry as that Sugino crank, and it starts out as the same forging. But there's a critical difference.
The studs that hold the inner chainring, the 74mm bolt circle studs, are a few millimeters longer on the Sugino. Sugino makes a unique middle chainring which flares to the inside, pushing the chain further to the inside when you downshift from the middle chainring to the inner chainring. I don't know why Sugino does this, but it shifts just fine with suitable front derailleurs. I've never tried it with Shimano's STI shifters, however. But I suspect it won't work. The real problem arises when the chainrings wear out, which happens fairly quickly as the chainrings are made of a relatively soft aluminum, and Sugino doesn't make chainrings for that crank in the harder 7075-T6 aluminum.
Unlike the Sugino, the Impact crank has industry standard chainring spacing. The studs for the 74mm inner ring are shorter than on the Sugino crank, and you can fit Stronglight's 7075-T6 chainrings as well as 7075-T6 rings from other manufacturers. So front indexing works!
Since one of the chainring mounting points is directly behind the right crank, using a standard nut to take the chainring bolt can be difficult as it can spin and it's difficult to keep it from spinning as you tighten the bolt. Stronglight makes a special nut that grips the outer chainring, so it can't spin as you tighten the bolt. The chainring bolt set for the Impact cranks includes one of these special nuts. And of course we sell this set of hardware separately. We also sell the special nut separately.
All Impact cranks come with auto-extractors installed at no extra cost.

Stronglight Impact Triple crankset. I recommend the Stronglight JP400 107mm JIS bottom bracket. We stock these in both British and Italian threading. Auto-Extractors are included. With the 107mm JIS bottom bracket the chainline is 45mm. Of course we have these bottom brackets in many widths if you prefer a different chainline. Many modern frames and front derailleurs require a wider, 50mm chainline. That requires a 115mm axle. Let us know what you need.

Pick the crank length you want from the four listed near the top of this page, add the three Stronglight chainrings and the Stronglight Impact chainring bolts, then subtract 10% from the total. Remember that Auto-Extractors are included with the cranks.

With most recent component groups, the Stronglight Impact Triple Tandem Crankset requires a 115mm JIS taper bottom bracket. This results in a 50mm chainline. Older component groups are designed for a 45mm chainline. For a 45mm chainline, use a 107mm bottom bracket axle, JIS taper. We stock these in both British and Italian threading. Auto-Extractors are included with the crankset.
